Imagine the world is a silent movie. The commentary that each of us hears will be different depending upon our lived experiences and upbringing. This might sound fanciful, but it’s actually true. We each have inner storytellers who help us make sense of the world and influence our ability to love and achieve greatness.

At the end of the day, everything is a story.

There is no fact in language. It is all a description narrated by our inner storytellers to make it easier to navigate and understand life and relationships. When you repeat the same story over and over, it turns into a belief. Once it becomes a belief, you convince yourself that it is real, true, and fact, but it’s actually just an opinion formed by your inner storyteller.

Beliefs are not who you are. They are the raw material of your fears, hopes, and dreams impacting how you feel and behave, and serving as filters that delineate life.

Beliefs drive your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. This is why they are so important. While most of us are aware of our thoughts at the level of what we think about life, we tend to be unaware of how much of life itself is created and maintained by our thoughts, both positive and negative. Thoughts about the past, present, and future.

Your thoughts can build you up or drag you down. Some beliefs and thoughts are affirming, encouraging you to ask for that pay raise because you know you are worth it. However, most of us are more familiar with limiting beliefs and negative self-talk, which is a self-inflicted source of unnecessary personal distress. If you can learn to recognise and control your thoughts and the beliefs they build, you can consciously free yourself from your limiting beliefs and come home to your authentic self. When you harness your inner thoughts, they become powerful allies to living a greater, more fulfilled, life.

If you dream of more for yourself, a great place to start is increasing your awareness of your mindset and who is narrating the story of your life. Be open to a journey of inner discovery as you meet parts of yourself that you are likely unaware of, but which play a huge role in your enjoyment of life, your performance at work, and the quality of your relationships.
