After I graduated, I felt unsure about what to do next. Most of my peers had already landed their first job. But, there I was, struggling to figure out my next move. I felt lost. I turned to my thesis adviser and shared my concerns for the future. He asked if I had ever considered speaking to a coach. Little did I know, that question would change everything.

Coaching worked for me and I believe it could work for you, too. Regardless of where you’re at on your journey, feelings of uncertainty and fear often creep into our lives. It’s the nature of the human experience. In these situations, I find that working with a coach can help.

A coach provides neutral ground.

Many of my clients say that working with a coach is like talking to a neutral, unbiased party. A coach will guide and stimulate your thought processes in a way that helps to identify what truly matters to you, uncovering what you want and don’t want in various aspects of your life.

A coach pays attention.

One of the primary objectives of a coach is to bring your behavioural patterns into awareness. To achieve this, a coach listens to what is being said, and listens for what is not being said! Observing your tone of voice and your body language, receiving you exactly as you are, through a non judgemental lens.

A coach guides you towards your purpose and authentic self.

With your values and goals at the centre, a coach acts as a compass, helping you navigate life’s unknown and unfamiliar challenges, in a way that is true to you and the life you want.

A coach unlocks your existing potential.

Over the years I have found that when entering into a coaching partnership with my clients, many begin with a list of things they think is ‘wrong’ with them and what they believe needs fixing. It’s important to know that a coach will not fix you, because you are not broken to begin with. You have boundless potential within you. Through various conversations and techniques, a coach will nurture, unlock and support your growth and personal development.

A coach holds you accountable.

A coach will empower and support you as you work towards achieving your goals. To do this, a coach will assess what is realistic in your situation, help structure a roadmap for the future and work with you in creating achievable steps to achieve what you have set out to achieve for yourself.

Remember, you are already brimming with potential and possibility. Working with a coach will help you unlock and rediscover what is already there. All you need to do is take the first step.
